Effectiveness and Efficiency of Strategic and Systemic Therapy in Naturalistic Settings: Preliminary Findings from a Systemic Practice Research Network (SYPRENE)

Grégoire Vitry, Rytis Pakrosnis, Olivier Gabriel Brosseau, and Nathalie Duriez

dr fr Summary

SYPRENE, an international digital network for Systemic Practice Research (PRN), was created in 2014 to address the lack of practice-based research regarding the effectiveness and efficiency of systemic therapies, starting with strategic therapies. This article reports the first results of the results. So far, twenty-seven therapists from multiple countries using MRI's strategic brief therapy approach have collected data for a wide range of problem diagnoses. Data is reported here for 1,150 completed cases. The dropout rate was 19%. Significant improvement or complete resolution of the problem was reported by therapists in 80% of cases and by patients in 90% of cases, with an average of 5.4 sessions and 5.3 months of treatment. Patients reported significant improvement on GHQ-12 with a large effect size, and 76% of cases were rated as having achieved reliable and clinically significant change.
