Strategic systemic approach and hypnosis

      CTS

Since its foundation in 1987, the mission of the Center for Strategic Therapy of Arezzo in Italy has been to promote and develop an interactional and strategic vision of human behavior and it all started when the two founders, Giorgio Nardone and Paul Watzlawick began to formalize, in a totally original way, the brief strategic therapy model. They defined the epistemo-theoretical and applicative prerogatives of the model, the research method, the logic of strategic problem solving and communication strategies. The collaboration between them became increasingly close until the joint foundation of the Center for Strategic Therapy in Arezzo as an institute for research, training and psychotherapy, for the development and evolution of the model of Palo Alto school towards more advanced therapeutic technology. In 2017, the Strategic Therapy Center celebrated its 30th anniversary.

Research-intervention with the field as a methodological basis is the spearhead of the institute, the identity card of an approach which today finds its place in the scientific field.

Already, in 1988, the first published results from this research show that in cases of panic attacks with agoraphobia, more than 90% of patients have completely overcome their disorder in 10 sessions.

In 2003, the results of a longitudinal study intended to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of all protocols for the treatment of psychopathologies over the previous 10 years were presented. Of a total of 3,484 patients, 86% of cases were considered resolved after an average of 9 sessions.

Thus, after more than 15 years of protocol elaborations and direct experiences, the model of strategic problem solving is formulated as an operational method to achieve change and achieve objectives set in advance, even in contexts not clinics as well as in the artistic or sports fields.

Due to the need to give psychotherapy the image of a rigorous scientific and practical discipline, Giorgio Nardone and Alessandro Salvini, with the collaboration of more than 360 eminent representatives from the world of different forms of psychotherapy, have published the first and unique International Dictionary of Psychotherapy in Italian, Spanish and English.

The training school of the Brief Strategic Psychotherapy model of Arezzo, is recognized by the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) as a four-year postgraduate specialization school in Brief Strategic Psychotherapy .

Lact and the CTS jointly deploy a Clinical Masters in Strategic Brief Therapy as well as joint research actions.

      Paris 8 University

Since its creation as an Experimental Center in Vincennes in 1969 and then its establishment in Saint-Denis in 1980, the University of Paris 8 has been a central teaching and research center in the Ile-de-France in the field of humanities. With a predominance of Arts, Letters, Humanities and Social Sciences, the university has always had as its main objective to bring students to a better understanding of the contemporary world while providing them with the tools to integrate themselves into society in the long term.

From this perspective, the innovative nature of the research it proposes finds its origins in its openness to areas hitherto little present in French University. Paris 8 University also stands out for its desire to maintain a very strong link between research and teaching , both at the national and international level, by relying, among other things, on innovative teaching methods. It is therefore quite natural that a partnership between Lact and Paris 8 University was set up, becoming a real lever in the dissemination of the strategic systemic model for thinking and acting on the world.

, the University of Paris 8 has been deploying a teaching partnership with LACT with the establishment of a University Diploma under the direction of Nathalie Duriez (photo) as well as various University Certificates in clinical approach, improvement of practice and systemic coaching.

      Palo Alto School

“We cannot not communicate” Paul Watzlawick

In the 1950s, schools of psychotherapy viewed mental health problems as the result of individual pathology; brief therapy has shed a profoundly innovative light. It was under the impetus of a group of anthropologists led by Gregory Bateson that the Mental Research Institute (MRI) and the Brief Therapy Center (CTB) were created in 1959 in Palo Alto, California under the impetus from Don Jackson. From this work was born a new way of conceiving human relations and human problems, a different and innovative method of problem solving based on a circular dynamic. The MRI quickly became a place of work and residence for some of the greatest figures in the field. Among the Institute's internationally renowned innovators are Richard Fisch, Jay Haley, Jules Riskin, Virginia Satir, Paul Watzlawick and John Weakland.

The goal of the Palo Alto School today is to leverage advances in the social sciences to promote widespread positive change in human systems. It is to strengthen national and international exchanges and collaboration between researchers and practitioners working in the fields of social sciences. New innovative and virtual platforms are set up to discuss advances in the understanding and application of approaches based on interactional systems.

The school of Palo Alto is also more than 1000 publications around the world and 60 years of experience in the field of training, research and practice, research which today focuses on the development innovative interactional systemic approaches to understanding and improving human relationships. It supports programs and projects, university research, but also research institutes whose objectives are to understand the processes that reinforce advances in psychology.

The influence of the Palo Alto school is now global and is based on changes such as the emphasis on a quality therapeutic alliance, adjusted therapist communication through advanced techniques and strategy. The methods of intervention have proven themselves and have been widely disseminated through the intermediary throughout the world.

Lact has deployed a historical research partnership with the MRI in order to facilitate the implementation of research systems.
