Psychopathology and philosophy of the relationship under the gaze of hypnosis

Hypnosis and relational autonomy

Gérard OSTERMANN & Julien BETBEZE

The people who consult us are most of the time looking to put an end to a symptom, pain, fear, addiction, dependence, in short, they want to put an end to their suffering. Is the adage "when you want, you can" true when talking about psychological suffering? can I get rid of my bad habits, my anxiety, my fears because I want to?

Description

The goal of the theory that we work in hypnosis and in brief therapy is to allow someone who presents a contradiction between autonomy and the relationship to be able to feel free in the relationship with the 'other. The goal of therapy is to be able to experience a relationship with the other in which one feels free. If I feel free in the relationship with the other, I can let go in intimacy. The therapeutic model from which we work on this dimension of relational autonomy is hypnosis, and what is hypnosis if not the establishment of a secure relationship, therefore a relationship in which a person can experience a relational future. Here we touch on the heart of hypnosis and the heart of the link, in theoretical terms, between the theory of attachment and the work in hypnosis.

Objective of the module

  • Be able to make the link between attachment theory and hypnosis
  • Knowing how to approach “letting go” on a theoretical and practical level
