      There are many theories and models dealing with emotions, in this module we have chosen to study that of Giorgio Nardone (Nardone, 2019). which recognizes the existence of 4 basic universal emotions: fear, pleasure, pain (sorrow) and anger. Emotions can be defined as "skills without understanding" (Dennett, 2018) that allow us to adapt to our inner and outer worlds. There is a circular relationship between perception, emotion, reaction and cognition.

      Description

      During this 2-session module, you will receive advice and techniques to "Tame the inner tiger" by transforming limits into powerful resources, and by building an alliance between intelligence and instinct, reason and feeling, emotion and action.

      These online courses will be given in Italian with simultaneous oral translation into French.

      Objective of the module

      •  Brief introduction: emotions are adaptive, our emotional state is dynamic and not static
      • Highlighting the circular and interactive relationship between perception, emotion, reaction and cognition
      • False myths about emotions
      • Freeing the tiger: the myth of the evacuation of emotions
      • Imprisoning the Tiger: The Myth of Emotion Control
      • Conditioning the Animal: The Myth of Reinforcement, Reward, and Punishment
      • Taming the Tiger: Mastering Emotions by Regulating and Using Them Effectively
      • Tips and Tricks: Stratagems and Techniques for Managing Fear, Pleasure, Pain/Grief and Anger
      • "My way": my personal commitment to tame the tiger

      Module program

      Sessions will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Paris time - with simultaneous translation into French)

      Skills acquired at the end of the training (pedagogical objectives)

      • Recognize basic emotions in self and others
      • Experiment with techniques and stratagems to manage emotions
      • Strengthening the therapeutic alliance and the effectiveness of interventions
      • Correct existing tactics and techniques to improve the effectiveness of interventions.

      Evaluation and monitoring methods

      Obtaining the certificate for this module requires: 

      • to have passed 75% of the homework to be done outside of class (MCQ, videos, homework, collaborative work, etc.) 
      • to have attended at least 75% of the course sessions 

      Assessment of student satisfaction

      At the end of the training, a satisfaction questionnaire will be completed by each participant so that they can assess the relevance of the content of the training with regard to their professional practice and the achievement of their objectives.
