Interview between Grégoire VITRY and Wendel RAY
Gregoire Vitry
The data in our database is entered by each partner therapist in the program during or after each session with a patient. It should be remembered that we deal in our firm with both the cases of individuals and those of company employees for the problems they encounter in the course of their professional activity.
These data are entered in the form of items with scores ranging from 0 to 10 or free comments.
General data :
- Is it a first session, an intervention or follow-up session?
- From the practitioner's point of view, is the patient better since the previous session (scale of 0 to 10)?
- From the patient's point of view, is he better since the previous session (scale from 0 to 10)?
- How was the issue resolved if so?
- Who was the prescriber: personal doctor, occupational doctor, superiors, family, friends, school if it is a child or a teenager……?
- Did the patient come under duress or on his own?
Situation analysis data:
- What is the situation in interactional terms?
- Who is the problem with: child, wife, human resources, manager, colleagues, clients……..?
- Is it a relationship problem with oneself: addiction, bulimia, anorexia, anxiety, burnout……?
- Or to others: conflict, incivility, harassment, violence….?
- Or to the business environment: organization, change, dismissal, management?
- Emotional evaluation: anger, fear, pleasure, pain….?
Medications :
- Is the patient taking any medications and if so, which one(s)?
- Has he or has he not reduced the doses between two sessions or changed treatment?
- And we indicate the French name of the drug
Solution attempts:
- What attempts at solution have been implemented by the patient himself or by his professional and/or family circle?
Remember that Jean-Jacques Wittezaele and Giorgio Nardone have highlighted three logics underlying the attempts at a solution: relational avoidance, the formation of beliefs and mental control. These logics as well as the social components are encoded in the management software.
Social components of the problem:
- Does the patient ask for help?
- Does he want to be reassured, supported?
- Or be relieved of certain responsibilities?
Strategy chosen by the therapist / prescription to the patient
RPS and Risk Measurement (for professional issues):
- For the patient or collaborator himself
- For his health
- For the community
Wendel Ray
I have a question regarding risk; what is it exactly?
Gregoire Vitry
We are talking about the therapist's assessment of the risk, as stated above, of not taking charge of the person. It is not a question of the patient's answer to a question.
Wendel Ray
It's fantastic. I am very impressed with the work you have just described and I am sure that my students will be interested and will take an active part in it to inform your base and benefit from it. I can easily have the items translated and your tool tested by graduate students.
Gregoire Vitry
Yes, we have spent almost a year developing this program and expect a lot from it. Your help will be valuable.
Wendel Ray
The test can be done with patients that I manage myself or who are cared for by my students but for whom I exercise supervision.
Gregoire Vitry
It is an honor for us that you have agreed to be research director of the Scientific Committee. As I have tried to show you, we can draw a lot of lessons from this database, both in terms of statistics on the nature of the problems dealt with globally or by company, over one or more years, on the percentage of success, on the number of sessions needed, etc. Above all, we can measure the effectiveness of the Palo Alto method and of course, further improve the performance of the tool.
